The Best (and Worst) Skinny Margarita Mixes for a Quick & Easy AF Marg
Just in Time for National Margarita DayFeb 22!
I love a scratch-made alcohol-free margarita, but sometimes you just want something quick, easy, and still delicious. So, I put five popular skinny margarita mixes to the test to see which ones are worth grabbing and which ones you should skip
I focused on options that are low in sugar, low in calories, and easy to find because a good AF marg shouldn't be complicated. Here's what I found!
The Best Skinny Margarita Mixes
🏆Best Overall: Fever Tree Light Margarita Mix
✅… Citrus-forward, refreshing, and closest to a scratch-made margarita
✅… Not too sweet so you may want to add a splash of agave or simple syrup
✅… My personal go-to mix
This was hands down my favorite! If you love a bright, fresh citrus margarita without being overly sweet, this is the mix for you. It needed a tiny splash of agave or simple syrup to round it out, but it was the closest to a real margarita flavor.
🛒Where to Buy: Fever Tree is available at Walmart, but in my small town, I had to order it online.
🏅 Runner-Up: Mr & Mrs T’s Skinny Margarita Mix
✅… Refreshing with the perfect balance of sweetness & citrus
✅… Best when mixed. On its own, it was underwhelming
✅… Loved it with lime sparkling water and a squeeze of fresh lime
At first sip, I wasn’t a huge fan of this mix on its own, but once I mixed it into a margarita, it was delicious! The balance of sweetness and citrus is spot on, making it perfect for a quick, easy marg especially if you add some lime sparkling water and fresh lime juice.
🛒 Where to Buy: You can find this at Walmart- super convenient!
Honorable Mention: If You Want That Trashy Mexican Restaurant Marg
Jose Cuervo Classic Skinny Margarita Mix
✅… Tastes like the margaritas you ordered when you first turned 21
✅… Super sweet and needs fresh lime & sparkling water to balance it
✅… Great for nostalgia!
This mix took me straight back to being freshly 21 at a Mexican restaurant, unsure of what to order, and ending up with a syrupy, neon-green margarita. And honestly? Sometimes that’s s exactly what you want! It’s very sweet, so I’d definitely recommend cutting it with fresh lime and sparkling water, but if you want nostalgia in a glass, this is it.
🛒Where to Buy: Almost anywhere, including Walmart.
The Mixes I Would NOT Buy Again
❌Spicy Skinny Margarita Skinny Mix 2/10
❌Not spicy at all
❌Horrible artificial sweetness with a bad aftertaste
❌Way too expensive for how bad it tastes
I was so excited for this one, but it was a huge letdown. Zero spice, and the artificial sweetener left a bad aftertaste. Save your money and grab one of the cheaper Walmart options instead.
🛒Where to Buy: Only available online- but don’t waste your time.
❌Skinny Margarita Skinny Mix 3/10
❌Slightly better than the spicy mix, but still not good
❌Way too sweet and had a weird artificial aftertaste
❌Would not buy again, especially since it’s only available online
This one was just as disappointing as the spicy version, but maybe a tiny bit better. Maybe. The artificial aftertaste and excessive sweetness made it a hard no for me. If I have to order something online, it better be worth it, and this wasn’t.
🛒Where to Buy: Online only- but don’t bother.
